Khousabung, February 11 2018: Denouncing the ill-conceived Cabinet decision of the then Okram Ibobi Singh Government on this day two years ago, the Khousabung Sub Division Demand Committee (KSDDC) observed 'Black Day' at Justice Square in Khousabung DCC Headquarters in Henglep Assembly Constituency of Churachandpur District, Manipur on Saturday.

The gathering rejected the illogical, undemocratic and untenable Cabinet decision of the Okram Ibobi Government in renaming the erstwhile Thangting Sub Division as 'Kangvai' on February 10, 2016 .

They also vehemnly condemned the subjugation of democracy by the then Congress Government in ignoring the signature of 117 village chiefs who appended their consent in support of Khousabung Sub Division out of 125 villages covered by the Sub Division.

People of all hues turned up at Justice Square in Khousabung DCC Headquarters to voice their demand for immediate creation of Khousabung Sub Division by the new BJP Government.

People were seen holding placards which reads "Khousabung Sub Division for administrative convenience", "We will fight for justice", "117/125 village chiefs for Khousabung Sub Division", Khousabung - a political victim for electing the first BJP MDC in Churachandpur", Khousabung - the most centrally located location", Henglep AC 2017 Mandate - Sub Division for Khousabung", Hon'ble CM Pu Biren Singh - we bow before you for creation of Khousabung Sub Division" and many more.

"The Cabinet decision of the then Congress Government in suppressing the majority voice was highly unacceptable and deserved condemnation by one and all", said a press release issued by the Khousabung Sub Division Demand Committee.

It may be pointed out that with popular sentiments running high against the then Ibobi-led Congress Government due to alleged discrimination and victimization, the 4-time MLA from Henglep AC and PHED Minister T Manga Vaiphei, who was allegedly behind the ill-conceived idea of 'divisive' politics bite the dust in the Assembly election held last year.

"The people's mandate of Henglep AC in 2017 Assembly election was a victory of the people against injustice of the then Congress Government", said a community leader.

He said that it was a resounding rejection of illogical, undemocratic and untenable Cabinet decision of the then Okram Ibobi Government.

He further added that the Henglep AC mandate was for restoration of justice by creating Khousabung Sub Division at the earliest.

"The majority choice Khousabung Sub Division has been politically victimized by the then Congress Government for electing the first BJP MDC of ADC Churachandpur in the District Council election 2015 from 01 - Khousabung District Council Constituency, reasoned a speaker at the solemn Black Day observance.

Khousabung is located at the centre most location in and around Thangting / Thangjing Hills Range and the Headquarters of 01 - Khousabung District Council Constituency of ADC Churachandpur since 1972 .

The Black Day has been observed since last year to denounce the ill-conceived decision of the Okram Ibobi Government and to press for speedy creation of Khousabung Sub Division to meet the end of justice.

The solemn Black Day observance was marked by speeches from village chiefs and public leaders, raising of slogans, procession and candle light vigil.

Hundreds of people who turned out for the occasion, including village chiefs and public leaders renewed their indomitable pledge to take on the fight for justice till the goal is achieved, the released added.
