Imphal, July 03 2012: Clarifying that there is no question of manipulation in the results of MBBS/BDS Entrance test, which were declared recently, Chief Minister O Ibobi informed the House that since there was a wrong answer key of a particular question and the mark tally of the candidates were revised, the results have to be declared for the second time.

He also brushed aside the fiasco as nothing but human error.

The Chief Minister was replying to a calling attention motion moved jointly by Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi and MLA L Ibomcha over the issue centering around declaration of medical entrance test results this time.

Ibobi said that the results of MBBS/BDS entrance test which was conducted on June 10 last was declared on June 11 along with a merit list.

Enough time had also been given to the candidates for objections and claims if they were not satisfied with the results.

Accordingly, three complaints were received.

Among them, the complaint over a question in Zoology was disposed off as it was found incorrect.

However, another complaint over a question in Physics was found be to correct.

The answer key of the question was found wrong after careful examination.

So, an additional 4 marks were allotted to some candidates while some candidates were deducted 4 marks.

As a consequence, some slight changes have to be made in the merit list declared earlier.

The Chief Minister further informed the House that the changes made in the merit list would not affect toppers of the entrance test.

However, there may be some problems for candidates who are ranked around 140 in the merit list.

The Chief Minister went on to say that Manipur is expected to get around 142 medical seats.

Among these seats, 85 would be reserved for JNIMS, 30 for RIMS and 27 for studying outside the state.

After counseling is done on the basis of the merit list, allocations seats to the selected candidates would be carried out in accordance to their preference.

Brushing aside the fiasco thus crept up in the declaration of the medical entrance test results as nothing but human error, the Chief Minister assured that the government would look into the matter to see that such errors are not repeated in future.

Moving the calling attention motion, Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi pointed out that the result of MBBS/BDS entrance exam conducted on June 10 last was declared on June 11.However, the following day, the Selection Board came out with another merit list, which was quite different from the first one.It has also come to light that one Mumbai based M/S Exxon Automation Private Limited, which was entrusted for setting the questions of the MBBS/BDS exam, would be blacklisted.

So, the results so declared should also be blacklisted.

Dr Ibohalbi demanded that a committee be formed to investigate into the matter so as to take up necessary action against all those involved in the fiasco.

All the officials in the Selection Board should also be placed under suspension during the course of the investigation.

MLA L Ibomcha noted that the matter should not be just left out since it is a serious issue concerning the career of the students.

Those who were earlier selected and later declared failed could even challenge the merit list in the court.
