Delhi set to witness Sadar hills demand

To intensify the demand for a district status for Sadar Hills and take the issue to the notice of the Central Government, a contingent of current MLAs, ex-MLAs and ex-Ministers from Sadar hills area as well as members of ADC Sadar Hills will join hands in staging a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
Announcing this in a press conference at Classic Hotel here today, Chairman of ADC Sadar Hills SH Seipu informed that he himself would be leaving for New Delhi tomorrow but the ex-MLAs, ex-Ministers and current MLAs will come along with other ADC members on August 14 .
At New Delhi, a joint meeting with the Kuki students and other individuals working there would be convened to work out the strategies for staging a protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, Seipu said, adding that while at New Delhi, efforts would also be made to meet the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to discuss the issue.

Seipu informed that in connection with the demand for upgradation of Sadar Hills to a full-fledged district, a 9-member delegation of ADC Sadar Hills led by himself called on the Governor today.
During the meeting, the Governor assured that it is a genuine demand and he would meet the Chief Minister within the next 2/3 days for necessary advice, Seipu conveyed.
The Governor also appealed to the delegation to lift the economic blockade and put an end to the violence, Seipu recalled.

''If the Chief Minister gave a written assurance on upgradation of Sadar Hills into a full-fledged revenue district, my myself would take up the responsibility of ending the ongoing economic blockade'', the Chairman observed.
Maintaining that Sadar Hills is a place inhabited by Nagas, Kukis, Meiteis, Muslims and Nepalis and the demand for district status to Sadar hills is not disintegrate Manipur, Seipu categorically stated that no social organisations outside Sadar Hills should interference in the demand.
