Varsity Games: Kunjarani strikes boxing gold as MU end campaign with 8 medals

Thongam Kunjarani Devi of Pravabati College clinched gold medal as Manipur University ended their campaign with four gold medals in the 4th Khe-lo India University Games 2023-24, which wrapped up on Thursday.
In addition to the four gold medals, the Manipur University team bagged one silver and three bronze medals.
On the closing day, Kunjarani outdid Poonam Kaithwas of SGB Amravati University by a 5-0 verdict in the 57-60kg category in boxing to claim her yellow metal.
The three other gold medals for Manipur University came courtesy of Waikhom Sonia Devi (foil fencing individual), the quartet of Waikhom Sonia Devi, Naorem Mina Devi, Daiyarani Ningthoujam & Gurumayum Priyalaxmi Devi (foil fencing team), and Oinam Alson Singh (athletics - discus throw).
Also in fencing, the MU sabre team composed of Seram Chingkheinganba Meitei, Lairellakpam Chingkheinganba, Remo Oinam and Klearin Maibam claimed silver medal while the team of Linthoi Haobam, Keisham Chandrika Devi, Naorem Robina Devi and Phamdom Bijiya Devi got bronze in the epee team event.
The two other bronze medals were bagged by Naorem Mina Devi (foil individual) and Huidrom Bhumeshwory Devi (athletics - 1500m race).
This was Manipur University's best ever haul at the Khe-lo India University Games.
