Assembly should prioritise burning issue: Malem

Asserting that all other matters can be discussed later on, Lamyanba Irabot Memorial Integrated Trust president Malem Thongam has urged the government to initiate discussion on issues currently besieging the state and find solution to end the conflict.
Malem, also a transgender activist, has been on hunger strike since February 22 starting in New Delhi demanding abrogation of SoO agreement signed with Kuki armed groups.
He is staging similar protest at Khurai Konsam Leikai YOSC Club since Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Malem Thongam informed that his primary demand is for the state and central governments to abrogate the SoO pact.
He also expressed regret that people of Manipur have been suffering since outbreak of the ethnic violence with many people killed and thousands rendered homeless.
He further affirmed to continue with the protest till the demand for abrogation of SoO is upheld.
