Imphal, September 15 2021:
South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) has appealed to people to observe Lainingthou Pisatao Khutheiba on September 17 (Friday).
According to a SEACO statement, indigenous Meitei people had their own unique Culture and religion but the community's age-old tradition and religious activities gradually disappeared after adopting Hindu religion.
The biggest blow to the tradition of the community happened on August 28,1709 when 'Kangleipak' was ruled by king Pamheiba but SEACO has been making all efforts to revive the age-old tradition of the community including observance of Lainingthou Pisatao Khutheiba which was converted into Vishwakarma Puja of the Hindu religion during the time of king Chandrakriti, the statement said.
