Imphal, August 16 2023: Imphal West police led by SP Dr S Ibomcha recovered arms and ammunition from Apunlok Canal of Phayeng Kadangband road today.

The arms and ammunition recovered include 3 Pistols, 2 Pistol Magazines, 1 Sub-Machine Gun 9 mm Carbine without Magazine, 6 HE-36 Hand Grenades without detonator, 10 Tube Launching, 12 Ballistic rounds marked with H7.62D and 6 Grenade Firing Rings.

The operation to recover the weapons was launched at around 2.45 pm based on reliable information, and the arms and ammunition were found abandoned at the western side corner of Apunlok Canal of Phayeng Kadangband road, said police.

A regular case has been registered for investigation, said the police.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal West Police, 9 IRB and BSF personnel conducted a search operation at Koutruk at around 1.45 pm today.

The combined force searched more than 20 houses and verified the identity of more than 53 persons.

No persons were detained and arrested during the search operation.

After the search operation, the police held a meeting with the locals including members of Meira Paibi and clubs to build their confidence amid the tension.

SP Imphal West Dr S Ibomcha and SP Kangpokpi district Manoj Prabhakar took part in the meeting.
