Nambol lasses petition minister Th Basanta

Girls of Nambol area took out a rally from Nambol Sabal Leikai till the private residence of Education minister and Nambol MLA Th Basanta at Utlou Mayai Leikai on Sunday and submitted a three-point memorandum.
The memorandum contained demands for withdrawal of central forces from Manipur, removal of security advisor Kuldiep Singh and giving additional powers to state forces.
If none of the demands in the memorandum are put into action, then the upcoming election will be boycotted in Nambol.
During the rally, which began around 2.30pm Sunday, the Nambol lasses held placards inscribed with the slogans, "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Give additional powers to NRC", and "Save Meetei from Kuki narco-terrorists" .
The rally passed through Nambol Bazar, Chingmang, Phoijing and Utlou before ending up at the residence of the minister.
However, the education minister was not at home due to a previous engagement.
As such, the rally participants waited at SAI Ground in Utlou and submitted the memorandum to the minister upon his return around 5 pm.
In response, Th Basanta Kumar said that the demands will be discussed in detail and assured to fulfil them to the best of his abilities.
He informed that the state government will urge the central government to remove those central forces who failed to act when Kuki militants carried out attacks in Moreh.
The MLAs and ministers of Manipur are pushing the centre to solve the conflict in Manipur as soon as possible, he said, while adding that he will join the people's movement if the centre refuses to listen to voices of the people.
