ISTV Network celebrates 21st Foundation Day

Information Service of Television (Network) celebrates its 21st Foundation Day at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday.
The function was attended by Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwar as chief guest, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union president Bijoy Kakchingtabam as guest of honour and ISTV Network director Bijoy Kab-orambam as president.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA L Rameshwar lauded the service of the network in disseminating information to the masses, while stressing the need to keeping with the times, especially with regard to technological advancements.
He then suggested producing and broadcasting serial shows so as to increase the people's preference for cable networks.
Taking note of portrayal of the Meetei community in bad light abroad due to the on-going conflict, the MLA said that many Kuki government employees are reportedly continuing the work via online.
As such, he urged the media persons to investigate the same and disseminate the news to the world that the Meetei have not attack any innocent civilian in the valley.
AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam highlighted the challenges faced by the media amid the difficult times in Manipur.
Both AMWJU and Editors' Guild of Manipur (EGM) have taken their stands on certain matters and will continue to do so.
He then urged ISTV to utilise new technologies, while also mentioning the need for media houses to keep women's only washrooms.
During the function, the panellists who participated in the Discussion Hour programme and staff of the Network were honoured with gifts.
