Imphal, January 21 2024:
Normal life in the valley districts was paralysed for the second day on account of the 48 hours bandh called by the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Takhellambam Manoranjan Singh since yesterday.
Takhellambam Manoran-jan of Thiyam Konjil was killed when Kuki militants attacked Meitei villages of Kangchup Chingkhong, Imphal West in the intervening night of January 17 and 18 .
Apart from Takhellam-bam Manoranjan, another village volunteer too sustained injuries in the attack.
Condemning the brutal killing and putting a number of demands to the State Government, the JAC called a 48 hours bandh from 5 am of January 20 till 5 am of January 22 .

On account of the bandh, public transporters stayed off the roads and there was little traffic on all major roads.
However, flight service was not affected.
All commercial and market centres including Khwai- ramband Keithel, Thangal Bazar, Paona Bazar, Lam-long, Singjamei, Pishum and Kongba remained shut.
Large groups of women came out and blocked roads at Lamlong, Sawombung, Irilbung, Thiyam, Lamsang, Kwakeithel and Lilong bridge.
Paramilitary forces including RAF, CRPF and Manipur Police took up stringent security measures at vulnerable areas.
Reinstatement of the Chief Minister as the Chairman of Unified Command, withdrawal of Central forces from the State, full authorisation of State forces in performing their duties, abrogation of SoO pact with Kuki militants and implementation of NRC are some major demands of the JAC.
Speaking to media persons at Sawombung, some women bandh supporters said that the people are deeply aggrieved by the State's helplessness and the Central Government's indifference to the relentless attacks and killings carried out by Kuki narco-terrorists against the Meitei community.
They urged both the Central Government and the State Government to bring peace and normalcy in the State by rehabilitating all the people displaced from Moreh, Churachandpur, Torbung, Keithelmanbi, Leimakhong etc at their original places.
They also demanded resignation of all the legislators if they are not in a position to rehabilitate the IDPs at their original places.
Notably, Kuki terrorists not only killed police personnel and village defence volunteers recently but also sneaked into the valley districts and massacred unarmed civilians some days back.
