During the procession, piercing slogans of "Go back Assam Rifles", "We condemn the killing of Yengkhom Jiten", "Long live Manipur" etc resounded through the air amidst cries of Jiten's heartbroken family members and the public.
Floral tributes were also paid to the deceased at Kakching Chumnang Bus Parking after his dead body was brought home at Kakching Chumnang.
Subsequently, Yengkhom Jiten's burial ceremony was held with the participation of the public near the memorial site of Wangkhei Meiraba at Machin Manao Ching in Kakching where he was ultimately laid to rest.
It may be noted that Yengkhom Jiten was one out of two persons killed when Assam Rifles opened fire at an agitating crowd on September 8 at Leimangai Chingjil.
The last rites of the other victim, namely, Soibam Nanao from Salungpham, were performed on September 10 .
