Manipur State Award for Literature

Sudhir Naoroibam has been chosen for the prestigious Manipur State Award for Literature for the year 2019-20 .
A statement issued by the Director of Language Planning and Implementation today informed that the award has been sponsored by the State Government since 2008 to honour the Manipuri writers for their contributions to Manipuri literature.
At present, the award included a plaque, a citation, a shawl and a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh.
It continued that the State Government has decided to present the 11th Manipur State Award for Literature to Sudhir Naoroibam for his book 'Asengba Yum', a collection of short stories published in 2018 .
He was selected for the award by a Board of eminent persons set up by the Government, it added.
Sudhir Naoroibam is from Oinam, Bishnupur.
He is one of the noted contemporary fiction, screenplay and script writers of Manipur.
He is also the recipient of several literary awards including the Sahitya Akademy Award (2003) .
