Ukhrul pays homage to 2014 'martyred' youths

Ukhrul, August 30 2018:
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) under the aegis of United Naga Council (UNC) today paid rich tributes to Ramkashing Vashi and Mayopam Ramror at TNL ground, Ukhrul who were killed in police action on August 30, 2014 .
The two youths Ramkashing and Mayopam were killed during a protest against the 'militarization' and heavy deployment of police commandos in Ukhrul town and the demand to expedite the Indo-Naga dialogue.
A public meeting followed the wreath laying ceremony at TNL ground.
During the meeting, CAO, WTR, Tangkhul region M Raikhan said that the heroic sacrifice of the two youths is a victory in the political movement of the Nagas.
He said, "Nagas are not waging war against any community and our Naga National movement is assertion of our inherent rights and to safeguard our ancestral land from adversaries." TNL president Weapon Zimik in his welcome speech also read out of the solidarity message from UNC president Gaidon Kamei.
Condolence messages from Tangkhul social organizations leaders ( TSL, TKS & TMNL) were read out which said that the supreme sacrifice of (Ramkashing and Mayopam) would be remembered and recorded in the history of "our political movement for self determination." Ramkashing and Mayopam are survived by their better halves Chanreiwon Vashi and Rose Dfena children Lanthingso Vashi and Ngahangai Ramror A special offering for the bereaved families was also made.
