AR helps fire mishap victims at Tangrei village

Imphal, January 27 2015:
41 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) carried out a rescue operation by dousing an accidental fire caught during routine chores in a house at Tangrei village in Ukhrul Town.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the proximity on incident site to the Assam Rifles helped in controlling the fire initially from further spreading thus stopping collateral damage.
Meanwhile the fire station at Ukhrul was informed and a fire engine came to the spot and doused the fire completely.
The people thanked the Assam Rifles for their quick response and initiative shown to prevent collateral damage.
In another incident, troops of the 16 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) provided rescue to the villagers of Shangshak who came under the deadly threat of a devastating fire which broke out at the Saw Mill on 27 Jan 15.A fire alarm was immediately raised in the location of 16 Assam Rifles after which the massive fire was successfully extinguished saving a lot of precious lives.
Fortunately, there was no causality or injury report.
The people in the vicinity thanked the troops for their quick action and appreciated the rescue offered by the Assam Rifles thus living to their motto "Friends of the North East People", the PRO added.
