Vijay Merchant Trophy: Manipur, Sikkim end in draw

Manipur were denied a win as Sikkim held on to draw their match in the Vijay Merchant Trophy at DRIEMS Ground, Cuttack, Odisha.
The state squad gained a lead of 56 runs in the first innings after they bowled Sikkim for 102 in 40.1 overs, defending their innings' total of 158 in 54.4 overs.
Danish emerged as the standout performer with a knock of 51 while Donba and Binson each made 28, with Y Achouba contributing 20 in Manipur's first innings.
The state bowlers then bowled out Sikkim for 102 as Danish, Rain, Naesh and Sougaijam picked up two wickets each.
Bisal Ningombam took one wicket.
In their second innings, Manipur's batting significantly improved by putting 177/8 runs on the scoreboard.
Thomsan top-scored for his side with 62, followed by Naesh (42), Rain (38) and Binson (11).In the process, Manipur lost three of their wickets to Bhavya, two to Nekash and one to Denree.
In their second essay, Sikkim stayed through 54 overs, scoring 98/9, to force a draw.
