Ukhrul bank heist : Court sends two to judicial custody

Imphal, December 08 2023:
The District and Session Judge Imphal East has sent two accused who allegedly dropped the masked miscreants who looted over Rs 18 crore from Punjab National Bank, Ukhrul branch till the last motorable road near Indo-Myanmar international border pillars 124-126 in Mahindra Bolero campers to 15 days judicial custody till December 22 .
The accused Honpam Shimray (26) and Stanhope Horam (44) were produced before the Court in Imphal East today as the Judge of District and Session Court, Ukhrul is on leave.
The two accused have been in police custody since December 3 .
The report of the looters fleeing toward the Indo-Myanmar border through Ukhrul-Jessami National Highway 202 was received on December 2, courtesy Ukhrul Times.
In the report, the two accused were allegedly made to transport the looters and the cash in Mahindra Bolero campers from Sihai Khullen upto near Indo-Myanmar international border pillars 124-126 .
There is no breakthrough in the investigation of the bank heist case as of yet nor any looter arrested so far.
The distance from Sihai village to the international border through a dirt road is approximately 30 km.
The PNB heist, occurring at 5.40 pm on November 30, was captured on CCTV.
