NISA enters pre-quarter, YPHU clears first round in 55th CC Meet

NISA, Thangmeiband has entered the pre-quarter final rounds of the ongoing 55th Sir Churachand Singh, KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 while YPHU cleared its first round match making it to the second round after defeating their respective opponents in today's matches played at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
The first match saw some real action between NISA and YOSC with each of them trying to dominate over one another while defending their position against the relentless efforts of their opponent's attempt to score goals.
With the players of both team locking horns displaying a tough fight, the match ended in a goalless draw.
K Luckychand of YOSC was issued a yellow card by the centre referee for his unsporting behaviour during the match.
In penalty shoot out, L Ratan, S Manimohon and L Nabachandra netted a goal each for NISA while the skillfull custodian of NISA successfully saved all the three attempts of YOSC made by Thotreichan, K Mayaram Zimik and L Lanchandra.
After defeating its tough opponent in their first match, NISA entered into the pre-quarter final rounds and will clash with TRUGPU, Nambol on November 18 at 1.30 pm.
In another keenly contested match today, YPHU blanked NYC with two goals and stormed into the second round of the championship.
The whole match was an event of the players locking horns and fighting tooth and nail for a berth in the second round of the championship.
However YPHU players at times dominated the match every now and then with scores of goal attempts directed against NYC.
S Sanjoy drew first blood in the 39th minute of the match which caught NYC players almost offguard and stunned them.
The first half ended with scores 1-0 in favour of YPHU.
In the second half, NYC players played the match with new hopes and vigour and tried relentlessly to equalise the goal.
But to their utter dismay, Th Srivash added another goal in YOSC's account when the match was about to end and broke all the hopes winning the match.
Selun of NYC was issued a yellow card for his unsporting behaviour during the match.
KYVO will clash with USA in their second round match tomorrow at 1.30 pm for a berth in the pre-quarter final rounds.
