Manipur wins first gold in National School Games

Imphal, December 15 2011:
Manipur secured its first gold medal in Thang-Ta events while Delhi won two gold medals on day two of 57th National Inter School Games Meet-2011 hosted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports under the aegis of Federation of School Games, India at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
The first gold medal of Manipur was won by A Thoiba in U-55 kg boys Thang-Ta event.
He outclassed Anshuma Singh of Uttar Pradesh and Honey Kumar of Jammu and Kashmir who won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Apart from the gold, Manipur also won a silver medal in U-42 boys Thang-Ta event.
Bikash of Delhi won the gold medal defeating W Brushli of Manipur.
The bronze medal was won by Degala Mahesh of Andhra Pradesh.
Pankaj secured the second gold medal of Delhi in U-50 boys category after defeating Ashish of Haryana who won the silver medal.
Chauhan Thakrashi of Gujarat won the bronze.
In U-46 boys category, Manjit Kaur of Jammu and Kashmir won gold defeating Vishal Duggal of Delhi and Barad Ashvinbhai of Gujarat who won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Assam also secured a gold medal on the day two of the event ion U-60 boys category.
The gold medal for Assam was won by S Dinesh.
Ajay Serawat of Delhi and Amit Soni of Harynana won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Delhi won two gold and two silver medals to grab the top spot.
Manipur with one gold and one silver medal is in the second position.
Jammu and Kashmir is in the third place with one gold and one bronze medal.
Assam, with one gold medal is in the fourth place while Haryana with one silver and one bronze medal stand in fifth spot.
Uttar Pradesh with one silver medal, Gujarat with two bronze medals and Andhra Pradesh with one bronze follow in the medal tally table.
In an U-17 girls Group A football match, Manipur girls beat Tamil Nadu team 3-0.L Victoria of Manipur scored two goals in the 9th and 34th minutes of the match while the third goal was scored by S Jinnia in the 44th minute.
Earlier, in a keenly contested Group A match, Maharashtra beat Delhi by a solitary goal.
The solitary goal of Maharashtra was scored by Aishwarya Baladure in the 32nd minute of the match.
In another keenly contested Group B match Chandigarh beat Orissa 2-1.The two goals of Chandigarh were scored by Soumiya 23rd and 35th minutes of the match.
On the other hand the lone goal of Orissa was scored by Anima in the 37th minute.
Mizoram beat Karnataka with a solitary goal in a Group C match.
Maria scored the solitary goal of Mizoram in the 24th minute.
In another Group C match, Haryana thrashed Andhra Pradesh by a margin of 7-0.Soni, Madhu and Sanju of Haryana scored two goals each while their teammate Mamata scored one goal.
Soni scored two goals in the 7th and 51st minutes.
Madhu scored two goals in the 38th and 49th minutes while Sanju scored in the 30th and 32nd minutes of the match.
Mamata scored a goal in the 41st minute.
In a Group D match, Chhatisgarh beat Gujarat 5-0.Vendana scored three goals in the 24th, 28th and 59th minutes of the match.
Remuta and Supriya also scored one goal each in the 1st and 47th minutes respectively.
In another Group D match, Madhya Pradesh thrashed Gujarat by a huge margin of 8-0.Nisa Bais of Madhya Pradesh scored four goals in the 17th, 31st, 37th and 52nd minutes of the match.
Bhavana scored two goals in the 7th and 35th minutes.
Kirti Shawvir also scored two goals in the 19th and 50th minutes.
In another keenly contested Group D match, Nagaland defeated Bihar 2-0.The two goals of Nagaland were scored by Thenourusou and Lhaitinglam in the 33rd and 40th minutes of the match.
Meanwhile, Manipur U-14 girls team scored a resounding win over Tamil Nadu by a massive score of 12-0 in a Group A match.
A Roja of Manipur scored four goals in the 4th, 13th, 32nd and 34th minutes of the match.
Ratanbala scored three goals in the 10th, 36th and 42nd minutes.
Sunita scored two goals in the 57th and 59th minutes.
Hemolata, H Daya and Yangoi also scored one goal each in the 27th, 50th and 52nd minutes of the match respectively.
In another Group A match, Manipur continued its domination and defeated a Chandigarh 9-0.N Ratanbala scored four goals in the 6th, 14th, 53rd and 55th minutes of the match.
A Roja scored two goals in the 9th and 25th minutes.
Hemolata, Sunita and Sanjana also scored one goal each in the 23rd, 32nd and 33rd minutes of the match respectively.
Mizoram beat Harynana 4-0 in a Group B match today.
Vanlal Duali of Mizoram scored two goals in the 2nd and 48th minutes of the match while the remaining two goals were scored in the 44th and 57th minutes of the match by F Lalmuan Puii and Lalrem Ruati respectively.
In another Group B match, Haryana thrashed a defenceless Gujarat 22-0.Nisha scored seven goals against Gujarat in the 6th, 9nth, 17th, 19th, 21st, 25th and 44th minutes of the match and earned herself a hat trick.
Anuu scored five goals in the 37th, 40th, 46th, 47th and 60th minutes.
Nisha scored four goals in the 20th, 23rd, 53rd and 58th minutes.
Monika scored three goals in the 22nd, 27th and 35th minutes.
Poonam also scored two goals in the 28th and 34th minutes while Kajal scored one goal in the 56th minute of the match.
In a keenly contested Group C match Goa beat Punjab 3-2.Heerman Deep of Punjab drew first blood in the 16th minute of the match.
She added another brace into his goal account in the 19th minute which extended the lead of Punjab against Goa to two goals against nil.
However, Goa girls were quick to respond to the lead of Punjab and strike back in the 26th minute of the match with a goal from Avialeanvas.
Later in the second half, Rimpy scored two more goals in the 43rd and 51st minute and sealed the fate of the match.
In a Group D match, Nagaland beat scoreless Chhatisgarh 4-0.Nagaland scored its first goal in the 43rd minute of the match.
It was followed by a hat trick from Neshenen who scored three goals in the 45th, 51st and 53rd minutes.
In another Group D match, Chhatisgarh thrashed a Andhra Pradesh 8-0.Dashri Poyam of Chhatisgarh scored four goals in the 12th, 25th, 30th and 36th minutes of the match and earned herself a hat trick.
Indu Shrivas scored two goals in the 14th and 39th minutes while their teammates Amish Korram and Jamuna Poyam scored one goal each in the 8th and 24th minutes respectively.
