National U-14 School Games Archery to begin on Nov 5

Imphal, November 03 2017:
The Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports will organise the U-14 Archery competition as a part of National School Games 2017 under the supervision of School Games Federation of India from November 5 to 9 at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and the preparation for the said event is completed and will be partcipated by U-14 boys from accross the Nation .
The department has constituted many organising committee to organise the national competition smoothly and successfully.
Altogether 188 boys and 163 girls from 23 State unit will compete at the event.
A technical committee has also been formed with Dr GA Ibopishak Sharma as the chairman who will be assisted by 14 other technical officials .
The archers will compete in three different events, Recurve, Indian Round and Compound .
Few State units which will be part of the competition have started arriving from today onwards.
The reception committee and lodging committee have swung into action in this regard for proper arrangement of lodging and other support .
Though the preparation from the directorate’s side is already over, the rules and regulations of the competition are yet to be detailed by SGFI observers, said the chairman of the technical committee .
The name of the 24 players which will represent Manipur State school team have also been announced and they have already started their training under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports .
The State team (12 boys and 12 girls) will participate in all three events .
The organising committee of the competition has requested all sections of the society to encourage and support the budding archers of the Nation and appealed not to call any bandh or general strike during the competition.
