District sports complex inspected

MPCB and KVIB Chairman as well as MLA of Oinam AC, L Radhakishore Singh inspected the unfinished district sports complex in Bishnupur district, today .
It may be mentioned that the foundation of the complex was laid by the previous CM, O Ibobi Singh.
The construction of the complex began from May, 2014 and a total of Rs 9,40,35,000 was sanctioned for the complex, reports our correspondent .
The MPCB Chairman found out that the most of the infrastructures of the sports complex was not proportional to the amount sanctioned .
Speaking to media persons, L Radhakishore stated that not even half of the work has been completed, even though almost 50 percent of the total fund amount has been sanctioned for the complex .
He questioned the officials concerned regarding the unfinished construction of the sports complex .
Even though the location for construction of the complex is appropriate, Radhakishore expressed concern over the low lying area .
Considering the budding sports players and the importance of sports in the State, he assured that the State Government will take up all necessary steps to revamp the low lying areas and also urged the public to extend every possible support and cooperation in inspecting the construction work .
According to reports, the amount of fund sanctioned for the complex was calculated as per the schedule rate DPR and the cost of materials began to fluctuate with time .
An estimated cost was again sent to the Government after 2015 MSR revision but the State Government has yet to approve the revised costs .
Director in charge of the sports complex Rupkumar Singh, sub contractor L Ramananda Singh, District Sports Association general secretary Ch Ibotomba Singh along with department officials and SP, Bishnupur Jogeshchandra Haobijam were present at the inspection tour.
