Guest house for TKLI assured

Works Minister Thongam Biswajit has assured to construct a guest house for Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) at an appropriate location in Imphal .
He made the assurance while delivering his chief guest speech at the inaugural function of the "XXIVth General Conference cum Cultural Meet" of TKLI at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal today .
The Minister further said that efforts will be made to complete the guest house within March next year as the president of TKLI informed about the availability of a suitable site for the construction .
He also said that under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren, the BJP led Government in the State is striving hard to revive the bond between hills and valley people besides endeavouring to bring inclusive development in the State by decentralizing Government activities throughout the State .
As such, unlike in the past, all Government officials who are posted in the hill districts are asked to remain at their respective stations/offices and execute their duties sincerely.
The Government will also provide all the requirements for them to live in their places of posting, Biswajit said.
He further sought cooperation from the public, particularly from the hill districts so as to achieve the vision .
Observing that Manipur exists as a unique State inside the unique country India with around 40 ethnic communities having their own religions, dialects, cultures, customs, traditions and festivities since time immemorial, the Minister emphasised on the need to bring cultural exchanges, thoughts, ideas and other such values among the different communities for the integration in the State and to strengthen the bond of love among various communities .
He pointed out that cultural programmes organised by different communities in the State will be more meaningful, eventful and prosperous if representatives/people from different communities are invited to participate .
He also asked TKLI to accommodate others in future.
Such efforts will usher in peaceful coexistence among various communities and enhance the bond of love as thoughts and ideas will be exchanged among them when they sit together and interact with each other, Biswajit opined .
Reminding that 60 to 65 percent of the country's population comprises the youth under 33 years, the Minister said that they need to be bolstered in order to make the society vibrant and strong as there is nothing that cannot be done by youth .
With this vision, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving special attention to youth in the country with the focus to make them skilful and adept by providing trainings and developing a work force in the country, he added .
Noting that Manipur's development is impeding, he maintained that youth of Manipur, particularly the students community need to remember this and discuss the ways to overcome this situation .
Biswajit then urged students' community to work hard and make active participation in social activities to bring peace and harmony in the State .
TKLI president R Wortam Azyamah who presided the function said that the main objective of organising the event is to enhance the diversified cultures of the tribal communities and make inclusive growth for the tribal cultures .
It also gives emphasis on inculcating the aspects of tribal cultures to the general masses and youth by exhibiting the cultural elements, he informed .
Vineet Joshi, Principal Secretary and Modak Hrishikesh, Commissioner of Taxes, Government of Manipur were among the special invitees at the function .
Presentation of song by choir, cultural dances and Tangkhul modern songs marked the main events of the function .
A book named "Phaningunglu KASEMALI" written by AC Varechan was also released by the dignitaries during the function.
