Govt today announced a 15-member committee for selecting the recipient of the Dronacharya award for 2004 conferred for outstanding contribution as a spoils coach.
The body, headed by legendary athlete Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, has several former sportspersons and coaches besides officials of Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India and the Secretary, Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, an official release said.
It includes Vimal Kumar (badminton), Thoiba Singh (hockey), MD Valsamma (athletics) and Saeed Naimuddin (football).
The other members are Ajmer Singh, Ramesh Tikaram, Raghunandan Vasant Goichale, BB Bhagwat, Joginder Saini and PP Mathai.
The committee will have its first meeting on Thursday.
The Govt had earlier formed a committee headed by ace cueist Geet Sethi to select the awardees for Arjuna, Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna and the Dhyan Chand awards.
