Minister PHED YAS and Tourism K Gobindas has today assured to make safe drinking water available to the people of Moreh beforeMarch 2005.Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of Yatri Niwas at Moreh Ward No 9 today, K Gobindas said that sharp increase in the population of Mbreh during the last ten years coupled with the presence of a large number of floating population has been responsible for the shortage of water supply at Moreh.
He further stated that the two water supply schemes at Moreh would be upgraded for providing safe drinking water to the populace of Moreh.
He also said that Moreh which has been acting as a gateway to the South Asian countries has the potential for developing into one of the most important corridors for trading with the SE Asian countries under the "Look East policy" launched by the Indian Govt.He also appealed to the public of Moreh to look after the newly inaugurated Yatri Niwas as their own property and also prevent others from misusing the building.
PDA Chairman K Ranjit who' presided the function asserted that Tourism Industries in the State has been at the receiving end due to the unstable law and order situation and further said that Tourism Industry in the State will only develop when there is peace and tranquility in the State.
MTDC chairman DK Korungthang attended the function as the guest of honour.
