Imphal, November 22:
The State Chief Secretary has till date failed to submit his report/comment on the Christian burial service disruption case at Phumlou before the Manipur Human Rights Commission.
This has been reflected in today's proceedings of the rights panel stating that no report has been furnished by the CS on the matter.
The commission while awaiting the report has also sought farther report on the same matter from the DGP.
Mention may be made here that the MHRC had sought reports on the case from both the CS and DGP following the submission of a memorandum on October 14.The memo signed by Rev Vumthang Sitlou, president of All Manipur Christian Organisation and submitted to the Chief Minister said a member of the Phumlou Baptist Church, Ph Yumshang Devi died on July 13 this year.
On the next day the body was buried with full Christian burial service honour.
However the locals allegedly dug out the body.
Pastor Amuba, son of the deceased woman complained the matter to police but the latter refused to act against the miscreants instantaneously, the memo said.
Having perused the matter, the Commission had on October 14 asked the Chief Secretary to furnish a report on die matter within four weeks.
It also sent a similar order to the DGP.
It is pertinent to note here that, the same villagers dug out the body of the father of Amuba and kept it at his residence on Nov 15.
