Imphal, January 12 2011:
The state will soon be publishing textbooks for blind students as the Braille Impression Press Machine has reached Imphal.
The machine which is manufactured in Norway was purchased by the Social Welfare Department of Manipur.
Manipur is the second state in the NE to have purchased this machine.
According to an official of the department, experts from Kolkata will arrive Imphal shortly to install the machine.
They will also train the state operators to use the machine.
The machine can print any fonts for blind persons.
The machine is a boon for the blind students of the Blind School situated at Takyel.
This will solve the problem of unavailability of text books for blind students which were earlier imported from outside the state.
