Imphal, February 28: At least ten faculty members of Manipur University have voiced their strong opposition to the plans of the Govt to locate the NIT in any of the two districts of Imphal.

In a signed statement, the ten faculty members said that though they welcome the NIT they have reservations about locating the same in any of the said two districts.

Such institutes should be dovetailed to the developmental goals of the region, they reasoned and added that for academic and other developmental reasons, the institute should be appropriately located in any district other than the two Central districts of Imphal East and Imphal West.
