A headcount of wild birds found in Loktak lake and surrounding wetlands would be conducted in 36 different places.
For the proposed headcount, an orientation programme was held today, specially for those who would take part in the headcount.
The orientation programme was attended by Chief Wildlife Warden Dr Anil Kumar, Toubul Gram Panchayat Pradhan W Dhoni Devi, Manipur Biodiversity Board Member Secretary RK Srivastava and IUCN Deer Specialist Group member Dr Khangenbam Shamungou as presidium members.
The proposed headcount of wild birds is aimed at preserving biodiversity of Loktak lake and surrounding areas, said Dr Anil Kumar.
The orientation programme was attended by 77 volunteers who would take part in the headcount.
