Yet another child disappears...Public meet denounces

Apart from staging a sit-in protest, a public meeting was held today at Sangakpham in connection with the disappearance of a Class VII student of Don Bosco High School, Chingmeirong.
It may be mentioned that Rahul Takhellambam son of T Sunil of Ngaikhong Khullen, Bishnupur district, a student of Don Bosco, Chingmeirong disappeared on April 21 .
The meeting today also decided to launch intense agitations from April 29 if no positive response is coming from the Government side within April 28 .
The sit-in and public meeting held today under the aegis of Don Bosco School and LKYDA and NEROCA at Sangakpham was attended by students of Don Bosco, St Anthony, Sangakpham and DAV School, Sangakpham; members of a JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of the boy; parents, local club members; and locals and meira paibi members of Chingmeirong, Laipham Khunou, Lairikyengbam.

Among others, the public meeting adopted three resolutions including fixing the school authority responsible for the disappearance of the school boy and appealing to all UG groups to clarify on the matter within four days in order to establish the truth.
It also decided to urge the Government to establish the truth.
The meeting also decided to launch a series of intense agitations from April 29 if no positive response is coming from the Government side within April 28 .
Speaking to reporters, grandfather of Rahul, T Shyamkumar said his grandson is an innocent student.
He said as the news of his disappearance was informed later, the family could not act swiftly on it.
He said the family did not receive any monetary or other demands from any organisation or group.
Stating that his grandson is a young, innocent boy, he appealed all concerned to set him free immediately.
Principal In-charge of Don Bosco High School, where the child is studying, Fr Francis said Rahul was last seen by a friend on April 21 around 12 noon chatting on the phone.
His absence was noticed when attendance of the boarders was checked at 3.30pm.The campus was searched but it was futile.
Following information delivered to the parents of Rahul, a missing report was filed at Heingang Police Station, he said.
Protesters displayed placards reading 'We condemn trafficking of children,' 'release Rahul,' 'stop child trafficking,' etc.
