Free medicine made available at Moreh Hospital but non-supply of water for last 10 days causes tremendous hardship to patients, staff

To avail free medicines at Sub-District Hospital Moreh (Moreh Hospital) under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Manipur and Medical Directorate, Manipur, a Pharmacy was opened today at the Hospital.
Speaking to the media persons, medical store keeper of Moreh Hospital, ND Shamte said that Moreh town, which is a main trading point of the State, also housed numbers of BPL, AAY Cards holder families and with the opening of the Pharmacy under NRHM and Medical Directorate, Manipur, such economically backward families will get medicines free of cost and appealed people of Moreh who cannot afford to buy medicines to visit Moreh Hospital to avail free medicines.
He further said that medicines that are not available in the said Pharmacy can be purchased from the Pharmacy of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Kendra, under GoI at subsidize rate.
On the other hand, due to non-supply of water at Sub-District Hospital, Moreh by PHED for the last 10 days, the patients including staff are facing huge problems.
Requirement of water is enormous to clean the medical equipments, rooms and other parts of the hospital in order to attend the patients suffering from seasonal diseases including skin diseases, which are increasing day by day due to changing weather condition, effectively.
Speaking to the media persons, Medical Officer, Moreh Hospital, Dr Cecil said that due to stoppage of water supply at Moreh Hospital for 10 days, the hospital is spending Rs 2000/3000 to meet the requirement for laboratory, labour room, dental dept, patients and staff.
He also expressed concerned that the water bought from the private tankers are not hygienic enough to treat the patient and can spread water borne disease to the patients.
Stating that such issues is routine in the Moreh hospital, Dr Cecil urged the relevant department for immediate intervention to solve the crisis of the hospital.
