Sit in protest staged, school shut down

Condemning the transfer order of two teachers of Phundrei High School amidst the lack of sufficient teachers, enraged students and guardians of Phundrei High School, Wangjing Tentha AC shut down the school and staged a sit in protest in front of the school today .
Speaking to media persons, a guardian stated that Phundrei school is the only Government school in Phundrei village of Wangjing Tentha AC and has the strength of 365 students in total with classes from I to X .
Although the actual number of teachers in the school should be 21, the school has been functioning with only 10 teachers until last month when two teachers were utilised elsewhere again, the guardian stated .

The guardian further stated that the locals were enraged when the Government issued another transfer order of two teachers this month and added that the school is now left with six teachers only which led to the students protesting and closing down the school from July 7 .
After the ZEO concerned and the Education Minister assured the students , guardians and teachers to solve the matter at the earliest, the school was reopened .
However, no action or initiative has been taken up till date despite their promises, the guardian added .
The students and guardians were compelled to shut down the school today due to the negligence of the Government .
The students and guardians who raised many placards slogans have urged the State Government and the authority concerned to look into the matter and warned that their agitation will remain the same until the required teachers are provided.
