Imphal, February 13 2016 :
Uripok Tondonsana High School Founder
cum Parents' Committee and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL)
held a joint discussion today at Manipur Press Club on steps taken
up by the State Government to abolish the 55 year old Uripok
Tondonsana High School and set up Ram Krishna Mission School
at its place.
The joint discussion was presided over by the president of
IPAK Sapamcha Jadumani.
He stated that the steps of the
State Government to abolish the only residential Government
school of the entire Imphal West district will be a futile effort.
The Uripok Tondonsana High School was founded in 1959
and now it has 300 students.
Questioning the intention of abolishing various State run
educational institutions to make way for other private educa-
tion institutes, Jadumani stated that such steps will only lead
to degradation of education system in Manipur.
Attention should be given more on providing education to
economically weaker sections of the society, he added.
The joint discussion resolved to stand against the abolition
of Uripok Tondonsana High School for construction of Ram
Krishna Mission, Imphal even though the discussion is not
against the State to have a Ram Krishna Mission institute.
They further said that they would launch agitation if the State
Government fails to locate other area for construction.
They further urged the authority of Ram Krishna Mission,
Imphal to clarify their hidden intention of abolishing number
of Government Schools.
They also agreed to submit the reso-
lutions made by the joint discussion held today to the
authorities concerned.
