Imphal, February 13 2016 :
Making his statement on the position of BJP Manipur Pradesh president clearer, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav has elaborated that incumbent president Th Chaoba will hold his post until a new president is elected within the current month in consultation with senior BJP leaders of the Centre and the State.
Before leaving Imphal for Delhi this morning, Ram Ma-dhav presided a meeting of senior leaders and core committee members of BJP Mani- pur Pradesh at their Nityaipat Chuthek office.
However, BJP Manipur president Th Chaoba and other office bearers were not present at the meeting.
Pointing out that incumbent president Th Chaoba's term had expired and the local body elections were also over, the core committee members asked Ram Madhav what was delaying election of a new party president in the State.

Saying that absence of a regular president would hamper different activities of the party which would ultimately weaken the party, they urged the general secretary to take a concrete decision on the matter.
Central leaders may elect a new president or let the State BJP elect a new president, they said.
After listening to the State BJP leaders, Ram Madhav rued that the issue of electing a new president has turned out to be a serious setback to the party in Manipur.
He said that due election process would be initiated to elect a new president within the current month after due consultation with senior party leaders of the State and the Centre.
A team of observers would be sent to Imphal soon to facilitate election of a leader as BJP Manipur Pradesh's next president.
Until the new arrangement is completed, Th Chaoba will continue to hold the post of party president, Ram Madhav stated.
Later speaking to media persons, Ram Madhav said that a new president of BJP Manipur Pradesh could have been elected in December/January but the election was deferred on account of the local body election.
On being enquired about the alleged involvement of a BJP member in a fake encounter case, Ram Madhav said that he had learnt about the issue and it was shocking.
Saying that he was saddened by the reports of fake encounters, Ram Madhav asserted that all those found guilty should be punished.
"Court will come out with a judgement and we will support it.
If any BJP man is found guilty, befitting action would be initiated against him/her from the side of the party", said the BJP National general secretary.
BJP is not a political party run by a family.
It has its own procedures for holding organisational elections.
BJP is the only party which opposes the corrupted Congress Government.
He further claimed that maximum efforts are being invested to expose different corruption cases where the incumbent Congress Government is involved within the current year.
