Imphal, March 11 2014 :
BJP would work to the effect that people of the seven Assembly segments of Thoubal district who can cast votes but cannot contest Lok Sabha election in Outer Manipur P/C are allowed to contest the same election with some minor adjustments provided BJP comes to power at the Centre, stated BJP candidate Prof Gangmumei Kamei.
Prof Gangmumei made this statement during an election campaign held at 10 different places of Kakching Assembly segment today which is included in Outer Manipur P/C .
This bizarre situation where people can cast votes but are not allowed to contest election would not be found anywhere in the world except in the particular seven Assembly segments of Thoubal district and Jiribam AC.
Blaming the Congress Government for not doing anything to redress this bizarre, unfair system, Prof Gangmumei assured that he would urge the Centre to make some minor adjustments so that people of these particular Assembly segments can contest the Lok Sabha election provided BJP comes to power with Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.
The 60 Assembly segments may be clustered into three Parliamentary Constituencies or the seven Assembly segments of Thoubal district may be clubbed together with some other Assembly segments currently under Outer Manipur P/C to form a second Inner Manipur P/C or the third Parliamentary Constituency of the State, the BJP candidate suggested.
BJP is one party which would thrive well on the soil of Manipur for the party believes in democracy, secularism and stands for the poor.
The party can certainly deliver a form of governance free from corruption and capable of bringing rapid development, claimed Prof Gangmumei.
BJP State unit president said that they were campaigning in the form of road shows cum street corner meetings as the polling for Outer Manipur P/C is just 28
days away.
Asking if any significant change has been seen in the last 10 years of Congress rule, Chaoba asserted that huge amounts of fund sanctioned for public infrastructure and welfare programmes like electricity, potable water et al have been swindled by the State Government.
MLAs elected to serve the public are busy doing contract works.
The incumbent Outer MP is unknown to the people of Thoubal district for he never bothers to visit them even though seven Assembly segments of the district are included in his constituency.
Chaoba urged the gathering to ask Thangso Baite where he had been in the last five years in case he (Thangso) comes to Thoubal for election campaign.
He also appealed to ensure that Prof Gangmumei is taken on board Narendra Modi's ship so that Manipur is not left out of India's new development trajectory expected from the leadership of Narendra Modi.
BJP State unit secretary (independent charge) M Rameshwar too appealed to elect the most competent candidate.
