JAC demands strict punishment for murderers

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the brutal killing of Moirangthem Ibosana (37) son of (L) Thambaljao of Waikhong, has urged the concerned authorities to immediately apprehend the culprits involved in the murder and reward them befitting punishments or else the committee would take up various stringent agitations in pursuit of their demands.
This information was disclosed during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul Imphal today.
The body of the deceased, Ibosana, was found dead in a decomposed condition stuffed in a jute bag around 6:30pm of March 4 at the Inter Village Road connecting Langthabal to Ningngombam at Langthabal Phura Makhong Chingmai under Singjamei Police after he was allegedly kidnapped by some unknown persons from Kakwa Sofa Leirak at around 7pm of March 2 .
Ibosana was working as a director at a private import and export company based in New Delhi and had come home some months back.
According to family members, a phone call was received from a person identified as a member of proscribed PULF and demanded a sum of Rs 5 lakhs a month and a half back prior to the kidnapping.
Suspecting the caller to be a phoney, the family had denied the demand of the sum.
The phone calls stopped coming after that, however, numerous phone calls demanding a sum of Rs 10 lakhs for the safe release of Ibosana were received by the family in between 10 am and 5pm of March 4, the day the dead body was recovered.
The JAC has, thus asked for the culprits involved to be arrested as soon as possible and punish them.
A sit-in-protest would be launched tomorrow in pursuit of their demand, the JAC stated.
Meanwhile, ex MLA O.Joy who attended the press meet said that many hardships are faced by civilians of the state who suffer a lot due to negligence of the state leaders and officials who are unaware of urgent situations like kidnappings or other crimes.
He said that the state leaders and officials whose duty is to look after the welfare of the people should remain alert and be able to immediately respond to any kind of grievances faced by its people.
