NWU, SDSA condemn

Senapati, December 09 2015: The Naga Women Union (NWU) has condemned the brutal murder of L.Poumai and called upon the responsible two State Governments of Manipur and Odisha for a spot and judiciary inquiry for ensuring safe train travellers in the future.

Naga Women's Union (NWU) expressed strong resentment and condemned in the strongest term over the heartless and brutal murder of innocent boy L.Poumai (23), s/o Low of Purul Akutpa Village, Senapati District of Manipur, who was travelling to Bangalore by Dibrugarh � Bangalore Express Train No.15902 on 27 November 2015 by around five unidentified persons at around 04:55 pm on November 29, when he made a distressed call and told his brother that he was not even allowed to move by the gang of five people and his mobile was switch off thereafter and family members could not connect him since then.

The family received that his lifeless body recovered and was found at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on December 1 .

"We condemn the inactiveness of the guard police of the train and the train authority for not giving security to save the life of the distressed and helpless boy L.Pouma," it stated.

"We call on the two state governments of Manipur and Odisha to take a measure of safe security for the train travellers especially the travellers from the North East by taking an immediate spot judicial enquiry to the dead incident of L.Poumai, so far we have not heard about the action taken by the governments instead spreading fabricated stories by some forces to cover up the inhuman crime for which the governments are responsible," it added.

Our Staff Reporter adds: Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has strongly condemned the incident in connection with the death of L Poumai.

In a statement, SDSA said that the claim of Odisha Police that Poumai committed suicide has perplexed the matter.

It reflected the manner in which crime against NE people is treated by authorities in mainstream India, it said.

SDSA also acknowledged the sincere intervention of DC Senapati, Principal Secretary (Home) and Chief Secretary and civil societies of the State in finding the truth behind the death of L Poumai.
