PMUY covers over 80K families

Imphal, November 08 2018:
Altogether 86,676 families of the State have been given LPG connections till November 5 under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
According to information received from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), PMUY earlier covered only women belonging to BPL families and entitled in the Socio Economic Caste Census of 2011 but now the scheme has encompassed Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and AAY families too.
Out of the 81 LPG distributors operating in the State under IOCL, Axial Indane of Noney district has given LPG connections to maximum number of families under PMUY.
The LPG distributor has so far given LPG connections to 3803 families and it is followed by Thangal Indane Gramin Vitrak of Noney district in the second place with 3167 connections.
It is said that more families would be given LPG connections under the same scheme.
