PWD urges removal of stalls, construction materials from footpaths

The State Public Works Department (PWD) has urged all those concerned to remove all the stalls/structural materials/ parking of damaged vehicles from the foot path as well as from the road side on or before November 15 in light of the fast approaching Sangai Festival 2018.A notice issued by the Additional Chief Engineer III of PWD, Manipur today mentioned that in light of the Sangai Festival 2018 which will be held from November 21 to 30, the need has cropped up to keep the road condition of NH 150/NH 2 (new) from Minuthong to Malom Oil Depot gate and NH 53/ NH 37 (new) from Wahengbam Leikai to Tera Oriental College gate in tip top condition to facilitate proper road communication for the delegates coming from all over the world for the festival as well as for the general road users.
Explaining that many temporary stalls/work sheds are found erected on the foot path along the National Highways causing inconveniences to the free movement of the pedestrians, it added that construction materials like sand, stone "chips, steel and condemned vehicles are also found parked on the road sides which leads to a bad image of the National Highways and contribute to inconveniences for the people/road users, it urged all those concerned individuals to remove all the stalls/structural materials/parking of damaged vehicle from the foot path as well as from the road side on or before November 15 .
It further warned that if the concerned parties fail to do so, the Department will report the matter to the Home Department and added that any eventuality causing damages will not be borne by the Department.
