Mustard seeds were distributed to farmers who have already harvested their organic paddy fields so as to ensure zero tillage of the land, under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region - Agriculture (MOVCDNER-Agri) .
The distribution programme was held at Kachikhul and Sagaithel Thuizang of Imphal West district yesterday, by The Garden Care, a service provider under MOVCDNER-Agri which is being taken up by the State Agriculture Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
M-27, a mustard variety which can produce a large quantity of oil, was distributed to a total of 17 Farmers Interest Group (FIG).
MOVCDNER-Agri State Nodal Officer S Radhapyari Devi, Assistant Project Officer Dr Kh Nimaichand and The Garden Care proprietor Asem Bhakta attended the events as the presidium members.
Planting/cultivation of mustard seeds, prevention of plant diseases and steps for processing of oil were discussed during the event.
