Imphal, September 01 2018:
In an impressive ceremony held at Mantripukri Garrison yesterday, Major General K P Singh, YSM took over the reigns of Assam Rifles in Manipur as the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) from Major General Virendra Singh, VSM.
General K P Singh, was posted at IGAR (East) in Silchar prior to taking over the present appointment.
The General also has the rare distinction of commanding the famous Siachin Brigade, the highest battlefield in the world.
A highly qualified and professionally competent officer with vast counter insurgency experience, the General Officer has been handpicked for this highly challenging and prestigious assignment.
General KP Singh, the new Inspector General, has appealed to the people of Manipur to continue to extend their love and support to the security forces.
He also urged the State government officials, Judiciary and members of the media for their cooperation, empathy and constructive criticism.
He vowed to do everything possible in his capacity to create a conducive environment for the growth of the Manipuri people.
While General Virendra Singh will be dearly missed for his calming influence, HQ IGAR (South) is fortunate to get General K P Singh as it's new head.
The Officer's pleasant and unassuming demeanor combined with a razor sharp intellect and clarity of vision will ensure that the Assam Rifles under his command contributes in a substantial way towards Manipur's steady march to peace and prosperity.
