Two Manipuri children who ran away from Immanuel Children Home, New Delhi have been handed over to their respective family members with the effort of Child Line, Imphal and Child Welfare Committee, Manipur today.
The two children are identified as Thangjahao Haokip (13) s/o Thangpao Haokip of Mullan village in Ukhrul district and Douminthang Hangshing (13) s/o Lhingukhuchin of Aihang village in Chandel district.
After running away from the Children Home, they were reportedly found loitering around the Fatehpur Railway Station, Old Delhi on August 1 and the members of Butterfly Child Line, New Delhi who came across them brought the and kept in their custody till August 5.Co-ordinator of Child Line, Imphal Mala Lisam informed that the two children have been taken along with by one Pramo of Kakching Khunou, who works as a teacher in the Immanuel Mission School, New Delhi and another person identified as Esther of Tuiboung, Churachandpur district on the promise of educating them in June last year.
Esther is a nurse in the Head office of Immanuel Children Home located at Rajasthan.
Her brother Mangkholet Haokip disclosed that altogether eight children have gone along with her.
Although, Thangjahao has fled, three other children are studying in Immanuel Children Home, Delhi branch and another four at the head office, Rajasthan, he claimed.
While asserting that the young children are being taken to Immanuel Children Home with the consent of their parents to give them proper education, Mangkholet noted that altogether 40 children from Manipur have been admitted at Imamnuel Ministry since 1995.Some of the students have even passed their class X examination, he added.
Assistant Probation Officer of State Social Welfare Department K Saroja Devi who was present at the occasion of handing over the children to their respective family members, said that the news about the two children was reported by the Special Resident Commissioner on September 10.On receiving the reports, the SPs Chandel and Ukhrul districts were instructed to submit a detail reports on the particulars of the two children.
