The ongoing veterinary programme of mass awareness and vaccination campaign covered Thoubal district today with veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister Md Alauddin Khan launching the programme at three different places.
After the campaign being carried out under the financial assistance of the Union Ministry was kick-started simultaneously at Imphal East and West districts in the early part of this month and subsequently covered pockets of Bishnupur district the same was launched at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Kaleikhong, Khangabok and Sangaiyumpham areas today.
The Minister was accompanied by the Veterinary Director Dr Joykumar where the duo supervised the vaccination campaign and called upon cattle owners to avail services extended by the Veterinary department.
In his brief remark at Sangaiyumpham where the main function was held, the Minister stressed on ensuring health and welfare of the cattle as rearing cattle could sustain economy of the cash starved State.
Conveying that Union Ministry concerned is extending substantial financial assistance to carry out awareness and vaccination campaigns Alauddin contended that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had assured all possible help even though the Central fund is inadequate.
At Lilong, the Minister giving a patient hearing to complaints regarding lack of manpower at the veterinary office assured to look into the matter and asked relevant officials to take appropriate measures without further delay.
Elucidating on Government of India sponsored �Assistance for State to Control Disease� under which target had been set to eliminate Black Quarter disease through mass vaccination of cattle the Director Dr Joykumar prevailed upon the cattle owners to consult veterinarian and avail treatment/animal care programmes provided by the recently upgraded modern laboratory equipment at the Sanjenthong office of the Department.
