The Deputy Manager of the Food Corporation of India Sadhasivam who was kidnapped by the suspected underground cadres from a place along the Imphal-Moreh road has been released safely this afternoon.
Sadhasivam who was stationed at FCI Dimapur was abducted by the suspected underground cadres from Khongkham, a place on Imphal-Moreh road on January 21 along with some of his colleagues when they moved towards a work site along the highway.
However most of his colleagues were rescued by a combined team of border security force and Manipur police on the same day from the clutches of the underground members after a brief encounter.
But the security force failed to rescue the deputy Manager since that day till yesterday.
Officials of the FCI here told this correspondent that the officer was released around 1 pm today and later left Imphal for Kolkata by an Indian Airlines flight.
