Imphal, January 25:
Denouncing the indefinite bandh called by the AISF in Thoubal Dist from Jan 27 as irrational, five different organizations of Thoubal today served an ultimatum to the Federation to revoke its decision within Jan 26 noon.
Members of five organizations of Thoubal dist served the ultimatum during a press conference held today at the Press Club.
The five organizations which have strongly opposed the indefinite bandh are Thoubal dist Development & Demand Council (TDDABC), United People's Administrative Council (UPAC), Langthabal Khunou Mahila Mandal (LKMM), Thoubal District United Women Development Organization (TDUWO) and MSF Thoubal Dist Committee.
Condemning the decision of the AISF/TDC to impose an indefinite bandh during the period of enquiry undertaken by the Vigilance Dept TDDADC, president Sougrakpam Roben ordered the AISF Thoubal to call off the bandh before noon tomorrow.
While stating that a campaign would be taken out on Jan 27 from 5 am onwards using loud speakers if AISF Thoubal does not respond positively to the appeal of the organizations the president appealed to all the shopkeepers, vendors, transporters and the public to carry out their day to day activities as usual.
He also warned that transporters who observe the bandh would not be allowed to ply on the Thoubal line later on.
The president appealed to the public to contact telephones of TDDACD (222656) and AMSU Thoubal Dist (222658) if any bandh supporters attempts to destroy anything or disrupt normal life.
He further stated that various forms of agitation would be launched against the Govt if it does not take stringent action against the bandh supporters.
MSF Thoubal Dist Committee's adviser Raghumani Thokchom strongly condemned the indefinite bandh called by the Federation and urged the public to remain indifferent to the proposed bandh.
Meanwhile, AISF, Thoubal district council warned of stern action against those individuals and organizations that violate the indefinite Thoubal district bandh called by the student body.
Appealing to all concerned to extend support to bandh call beginning from January 27 till punitive action against guilty persons involved in the alleged misappropriation of development funds of the district is initiated.
Holding the Thoubal DC and his clones for the embezzlement of the funds, AISF said shielding the guilty akin is to encouraging corrupt practice that would ultimately ruin the State.
Rubbishing the diktats of a particular student body, AISF said its volunteers are geared up to meet any attempt made for scuttling the bandh call.
The bandh call is also supported by student's union of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram.
