An IPS officer has been placed under suspension and an inquiry ordered against him in connection with appointment of 178 Home Guard personnel in violation of a Home Department order banning fresh recruitment.
As a part of an initial investigation procedure the IPS officer would be probed for his alleged role in back-dating the enrolment date/s of the Home Guards, an official source said adding that recruitment processes of 178 personnel out of a total of 225 were found to be against prescribed norms.
The fraud recruitment case came to light when the State Vigilance Commission was entrusted to ascertain veracity of the Home Guard recruitment.
The investigation agency had reportedly named former Home Guard Commandant A Rajendra, who is currently the Commanding Officer of 3rd IRB, and 12 other Home Guard commanders as accused persons in the case.
On recommendation of the Commission suspension order of A Rajendra was issued today with another order handing over additional charge of the 3rd IRB to the CO of 2nd Manipur Rifles.
