The 11 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) has extended financial support to one Amos Gongmei of Khongsang village in Tamenglong district to enable the visually impaired youngster pursue further studies at Shillong.
Taking into account financial constraints of Amos Gongmei's family, the AR unit living upto its motto of 'Friends of the North East people' decided to assist the individual in continuing graduation in Arts at the Meghalaya state capital, said a PRO IGAR (S) release adding the financial assistance was formally handed over at an exclusively organsied function witnessed by Khongsang village locals and nearby villages.
The IGAR (S) release, also informed of the same AR unit having organised a vocational education programme at Khongsang village wherein 300 students from three to 16 years of age are in attendance.
The vocational education programme is being organised under the aegis of Vacation Bible School, Khongsang, it added.
