In a reminder to an earlier representation submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel over the demand for reservation/allocation of 40 to 50 feet of land in breadth enroute from Chakpi river bank between Malanglok stream and Hlungtetol to enable construction of a district/sub-division highway along Chakpi river bank via Beru Anthi, Bolnidam, Old Nungfura, Charongching, Y/Khunkha and Anal Khullen villages, Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) has asserted that the land acquired by the Assam Rifles between Malanglok and Hlungtetol adjacent to a public road created by the State PWD during 1956-75 should be rectified and clear a way for public road.
Setting May 18 as the deadline for the rectification, ANTA has warned of calling a 12-hour total bandh in Chandel district headquarters and Chakpikarong sub-division with effect from May 19 if the head of the district administrator fails to do the needful in this regard.
ANTA has also demanded that there should not be any disturbance/ hindrance while taking up social works at Hlungtetol and Malanglok area, land demarcation in the said areas should be conducted between ANTA, Modi village authority and chiefs and the Assam Rifles in the presence of the DC and SDO Chandel on or before March 20 and the matter relating to the road construction/expansion at Hlungtetol and Malanglok be discussed and settled at the table of the DC.
In the event of failure of meeting the charter of demands, Anal people shall launch non co-operation movement against the construction work of Assam Rifles camp at Modi by banning all the local products and vehicles transporting goods to the worksite.
