Imphal, May 16 2011:
Land and Properties Owners' Association NH-53/39 Senapati and Tamenglong districts has threatened to launch agitation if the State Government fails to compensate them under the provision of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 .
A press release said that their land on both sides of the NH 53 from Keithelmanbi to Phaiton village near Jiribam sub-division bordering Assam had been taken over by BRO from time to time since 1958 .
Though compensation was given to them for standing crops grown within the acquired land, no amount has been given for value of the land, the press release said.
It added that no action had been taken even after a 36-hour bandh along the road was also imposed in February this year.
The press release said that Tamenglong DC had even put up the matter with the Commissioner (Revenue) on March 7 this year but till date nothing has been done.
The association has no other option but to launch different forms of stirs including total bandh on NH-53 if the Government fails to give the compensation in no time , the body warned.
