Expressing serious concern over the pillar of a bridge under construction already falling apart in Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district, government of the people's republic of Nagalim (GPRN), Zeliangrong region has directed the engineer concerned to taking up necessary corrective works to avoid any untoward incident.
In a statement, central administrative office of GPRN, Zeliangrong region Longchaibi Golmei said that the life link road of Zeliangrong people which connects Tamenglong district to Tenning sub-division of Peren district, Nagaland through Tamei sub-division that cuts through Barak with a suspension bridge under construction.
However, the pillar of the said under construction bridge has been capsized and the villagers have been complaining that the pillar is not orderly which rill hinder the works in the days to come.
So it is directed to the engineer concerned who is engaging in the said construction work to immediately look into the matter and take up necessary corrective works so as to avoid any untoward incident.
The GPRN also directed that the ongoing works be completed before the onset of rainy season.
The central administrative officer of Zeliangrong region further directed the implementing agency concerned to complete the construction work on the bridge over Makru and Barak river under Tamenglong-Tousem Haflong road before the onset of rainy season as this is the vital life link of the most backward district.
The statement further said that as per the resolution no.3 of the Zeliangrong Region annual assembly held on March 28, 2008, the Zeliangrong region is to issue these directives on development work on construction of Trans Asian Railway project connecting Jiribam and Imphal via Tupul which is in progress and various developmental works being carried out along NH-53.It is therefore, directed to all to give co-operation to the project so as to complete in time for the benefit of the people and do away with undue interference from any quarters.
No unauthorised and heavy taxation should also be imposed on the project, the central administrative officer said, adding that this directive should be adhered strictly and failure to abide shall be treated sternly.
