Works Minister K Ranjit inaugurated a bailey bridge which connects Maram and Purul on Khoirei and Barak rivers under Senapati district yesterday.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allauddin Khan, IFC Minister N Biren, Tribal Development Minister DD Thaisii, MLA Dr Kh Ratan and former Minister Francis Ngajokpa attended the inauguration function.
Meanwhile, Minister K Ranjit also took part as chief guest in Himaii Paoki, a festival of the Paomai community at Purul yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit said that adequate money has been kept aside for the current fiscal year for the development of Senapati district.
Works are in full swing with the sanctioning of Rs 10 crore for the construction of Maram to Purul road, he added.
Ranjit further announced that construction works at Purul to Lakhamei road have also been started with the sanctioning of Rs 1 crore under PSGSY.
Minister N Biren, in his presidential address, announced that a stadium would be constructed to showcase the traditional wrestling of the Paomai community.
Minister Md Allauddin also spelled out various activities taken up under his Ministry.
He further said that there would a considerable change in the rural connectivity by 2010 .
