ZYF demands 'special preference' from Ministry of Railways

Zeliangrong Youth Front on Tuesday appealed the Ministry of Railways, Government of India to acknowledge and consider the 'sacrifice and cooperation' extended to it by the Zeliangrong community and requested that 'special preferences, concession and relaxation' be given to the community at times of recruitment of various posts of the Railways.
The appeal was made Tuesday by the president of the Zeliangrong Youth Front Titus Kamei in connection with a report that the Ministry of Railways, Government of India is going to recruit 9739 posts of constables and Sub-Inspectors of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for the Broad Gauge railway line - Jiribam-Imphal shortly.
The ZYF in its statement urged the Government of India and the Ministry of Railways to formulate a policy to give special preferences, concession and relaxation for the candidates hailing from Zeliangrong community who are the 'owners of the land' where the railway line is going to pass through.
The Zeliangrong community has been giving 'maximum contribution and support' to the Ministry of Railway, Government of India towards 'realization of the project', said the statement of the ZYF.
The local Zeliangrong people have sacrificed not only their valuable land but also extended maximum support and cooperation for the realization of the Railway project, therefore, the Ministry of Railways, Government of India should reciprocate the same given by the Zeliangrong people, the statement said.
The Government of India and Ministry of Railways should formulate a policy to accommodate the interests of the Zeliangrong people at the time of recruitment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) or any other posts, appealed the ZYF and cautioned that it will not 'remain silent' if the Ministry failed to acknowledge the contributions of the Zeliangrong community.
